20 and Handed-Off

You're probably confused at my title; I shall explain.

Tuesday, May 15, I crossed over from the turbulent waters of "teenage-dom" into the probably even more chaotic realm of the "20's. Every time I think about being 20 I am jolted with the feeling of being expected to act a great deal more subdued and mature. It is a startling phenomenon and one that I have not gotten used to. The age-old "because she's a teenager" stigma can no longer apply to unseemly behavior. In other words, I no longer have an excuse for my bad behavior. Alas, though, my prefrontal cortex is not fully developed, as I have heard. So that's my excuse for the next few years ;)

Those who are over 20 are most likely scoffing at the above paragraph...and in a few years, so will I =D Actually, I'm laughing now at how melodramatic they sound. LOL! That's what happens when I post very late I guess. But on a serious note, I'm thankful to God and my parents that I made it out of my teenage years alive and spiritually intact.

For the latter portion of my title, I provide a brief and much less dramatic explanation and let the pictures do the rest of the talking. So, as most of you know, I am in a "2+2" (2 years at each university) nursing program that is a partnership between Holy Names (sciences and prereq.'s) and Samuel Merritt (the actual nursing school). I just finished my two years, by the grace of the Almighty, at HNU and had a "handing-off" ceremony that marked the half way completion of my baccalaureate of science in nursing.
 Now to the fun stuff!

Best and Last

At approximately 10:58am, I walked out of my last exam at HNU.

It's kind of funny. Now that I really got the hang of HNU, I'm transferring somewhere else where I will have to get the "hang of it" all over again. LOL. However, I'm sure some of what I've learned will "transfer" over (pun intended :)

Anyhow, I must be thankful regardless. I must also say that this semester has been the best and smoothest I've had so far. Walking with God and living a productive human life go hand and hand; they both complement each other.

For your benefit and to say "thanks", I made a list of some of the main things, places, and people who have made the (good) difference in how this semester went and have kept me going when the going got reeaal tough:

(1) Jesus (goes without saying)
(2) Listening to my parents advice (don't tell them I said that lol...jk ppl)
(3) Sis. Connell's morning scripture-text (nugget of gold when it's one of "those" days)
(4) Sleeping waay more than other semesters (huuge increase in brain power, no joke!)
(5) COFFEE :D
(6) Holy Ghost radio
(7) Kindred Spirits (ya'll know who you are)
(8) Interesting and inspiring blogs to read during my "procrastination" time
(9) On Course Youth Conference
(10) Getting to know Mary Ginty, who is extremely awesome
(11) My classes were, for the most part, VERY interesting...that helps a lot!
(12)  Ecclesiastes 9:10 "Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might..."
(13) Studying less outside of class...and focusing way more in class
(14) Recognizing as quickly as possible the classes that are "easy" and the ones that are "harder"; that way, I know what I should focus on more. Classes are separate AND unequal.
(15) 24/7 A&O
(16) Being thankful.

One.More.Day.

One of my main motto's is, "One step at a time". I can say that when I started at Holy Names University nearly two years ago, I never knew how that one saying would keep me sane as the homework piled up and life brought its usual twists and turns. That saying coupled with BALANCE, another thing I work to live by, has brought me to today:
One day away from my last at H.N.U.!
One-day-at-a-time and it finally accumulated to the day before the end of my time at this University

Two more finals tomorrow, so back to work!

Reason #5641065

"Advertising [affects] all people; or at least an overwhelming majority. Its goal is to persuade the masses to buy...The inevitable consequence is the creation of the mass man. As advertising of the most varied products is concentrated, a new type of human being, precise and generalized, emerges. We can get a general impression of this new human type by studying America, where human beings tend clearly to become identified with the ideal of adverting. In America, advertising enjoys universal popular adherence and the American way of life is fashioned by it."
Jaques Ellu (1912-1996), French Sociologist, The Technological Society (blamed TV for creating a society of "mass man")
